Heavenly Geometries

Publication DesignDimensions: 6.5” * 9.5”

Heavenly Geometries is a publication that highlights the design and perfection of Islamic geometric patterns. The intricacies found in geometric designs reveal to us a greater world of divinity. It provides the transcendental and spiritual power that art holds.

The broad category of Islamic art as defined by Western art historians is broken down and dissected. What constitutes Islamic art and how does this change under the Western art historian’s gaze?

This book cover was created using MDF board in which I lasercut the outlines of Islamic artfacts into and overlaid on cardstock print.

Interior Spreads Cyan became the overarching color scheme, representing the rich blues found in mosques and Islamic architecture. This color is often associated with contemplation and reflection, signifying the impenetrable depths of the universe.
